The Hunt & Live take
Why this chronograph earns the pick
The Orcair is the default chronograph for the partner’s customers — 75 orders with 90% positive reviews puts it in the same volume tier as the partner’s best-selling rifles. The reason is structural: by threading directly onto the muzzle, the Orcair eliminates the two biggest sources of error in cheaper chronographs — sensor alignment and ambient light interference.
A tabletop chronograph requires you to align the pellet’s path with the sensor strip, in light conditions that don’t blind the infrared sensor. The Orcair sits at the muzzle, in the dark inside the chronograph body, with the pellet path mechanically defined by the threads. Setup is screw on, turn on, shoot.
The iOS/Android app is the upgrade most buyers don’t realize they’re getting. Shot strings, standard deviation, extreme spread, multiple rifle profiles, exportable data — that’s the data you actually need to tune a PCP, not just a single velocity reading per shot.
What it pairs with
- 1/2×20 UNF rifles (the North American airgun standard) — Snowpeak Lynx Gen 3, M60B, Mercury, Max 1; Air Venturi Avenger; JTS Airacuda; Beeman Raider — all directly compatible
- Diana / Artemis M10×1 metric — Diana Chaser, Bandit, StormRider; Artemis PR900W, PP800 — choose the M10 adapter at checkout
The Wes / customer dialog on the partner page
One verified buyer reviewed the product asking about Bluetooth connectivity issues. Wes (the partner) responded within 24 hours offering direct email support and confirming his unit connects successfully — that’s the partner support story you don’t get buying off Amazon. If you have any setup issue, Wes is reachable at support@airgunarcheryfun.ca.
Honest trade-offs
Updated sensor removed user calibration. The V1 of this chrono allowed users to enter a scale factor to calibrate against a known-accurate reference. The updated sensor is more accurate out of the box but no longer allows user calibration via the app. For PCP work the absolute accuracy is fine; if you need calibration against a lab-grade chrono, this is a downgrade from the V1.
Only fits threaded muzzles. If your rifle has a fixed, non-threaded muzzle (older Beeman platforms, some entry-tier rifles), this won’t fit — look at the tabletop or barrel-mount chronograph instead.
Currently out of stock at time of writing. The Orcair is the partner’s best-seller and restocks frequently; email Wes for ETA, or pre-order while listed if available.
