The Hunt & Live take
Why this pump earns the pick
The 3-stage is the budget answer to the 4-stage above. More strokes, more force per stroke, but at a meaningfully lower price point — and with the foldable wide pedal it’s the more portable option of the two. For a PCP buyer who:
- Only fills once a week or less, and
- Wants to keep the initial setup cost under $300 CAD
…this is the right pump.
304 stainless steel barrel is the build-quality call-out. Where cheaper hand pumps use chrome-plated steel that eventually rusts at the seal interfaces (especially with humid air), a 304 stainless one-piece barrel won’t pit or rust regardless of climate. For an off-grid or coastal setup, this is the right corrosion resistance.
The foldable wide pedal is the small feature that matters in field use. A pump with a small or fixed footrest torques sideways every stroke, fights your hands, and ends up walking across the floor. Wide and folding gives you a stable platform when in use and a packable footprint when in transit.
What it pairs with
Same compatibility as the 4-stage pump — universal M10×1 fill probe fits standard PCP fill ports across Snowpeak, Air Venturi, JTS, Beeman, Diana/Artemis, and most other modern PCPs. Use the 40″/100cm fill hose if you need extra reach for a vehicle-trunk or workbench filling setup.
Honest trade-offs
More strokes, more force. A 3-stage pump requires roughly 30% more strokes to reach 4500 psi than the 4-stage, and each stroke at the top of the pressure curve is meaningfully harder. For a 130cc Lynx Gen 3 reservoir, expect 250-300 strokes from empty vs. 200-250 on the 4-stage. For larger bottle-fed PCPs, the gap widens.
0% buyer rating on the partner page is a display artifact — 42 orders with no explicit written reviews. The product description’s quality call-outs (304 stainless, foldable pedal, integrated filter) match the build, and the 42-order count without obvious returns indicates the pump performs as described.
Currently out of stock at time of writing. The partner restocks hand pumps regularly; email Wes for ETA if you need it soon.
The 4-stage upgrade is real. If your shoulder/back has any complaints about lifting weights overhead, spend the extra for the 4-stage. The reduced peak force per stroke is the actual benefit you feel after the 100th stroke.
