The Hunt & Live take
Why this regulator earns the pick
Altaros is the Czech regulator brand that built its reputation on premium internals for high-end European PCPs and earned a second reputation engineering drop-in kits for Chinese platforms like the StormRider family. They’re the gold standard across most modern PCPs — the upgrade you make once and don’t think about again.
The drop-in install is the structural advantage. The StormRider, Bandit, PR900W and PP800 all share the same reservoir architecture: a tube with a removable fill valve on one end. To install this regulator, you degas the rifle, unscrew the fill valve, slide the Altaros in with the included threaded rod, and reinstall the valve. No drilling, no machining, no modification to the rifle. Verified buyer review on the partner page: “My Bandit is so much more consistent with this regulator installed. Quick and simple installation too.”
The 100-150 bar output range is the right window for these rifles. The StormRider has a 250 bar max fill; setting the regulator to 130-140 bar gives you roughly 50-60 shots of identical velocity per fill versus the 20-30 shot sweet spot of the stock unregulated valve.
What it pairs with
- Diana StormRider Gen 2 — the most popular host rifle for this regulator
- Diana Bandit — same regulator covers the pistol variant
- Artemis PR900W — the regulated pumped version benefits the most from the Altaros
- Artemis PP800 — pistol variant
- Diana / Artemis fill valve + gauge assembly — companion upgrade so you can still see fill pressure after install
Honest trade-offs
Currently out of stock. Altaros production is small-batch from Czech Republic and stock cycles. Email Wes at support@airgunarcheryfun.ca for ETA, or use the Lane regulator kit or Snowpeak Stormrider/Bandit regulator as in-stock alternatives.
You’ll need the fill valve / gauge assembly too. Installing the regulator covers the original gauge port. Budget the companion part into the upgrade.
30-60 minutes of work for a first-time install. Not a “screw it in and done” job — there’s degassing, fill valve removal, regulator insertion, O-ring management, and reassembly. Verify your StormRider isn’t under warranty (or you’re OK voiding it) before opening it up.
