The Hunt & Live take
Why this regulator earns the pick
Huma-Air is the Dutch competitor to Altaros — same premium positioning, slightly different design philosophy, popular for FX and Artemis platforms. The two brands trade off who’s the “better” choice rifle-by-rifle; for the Artemis M22 and PP700SA, Huma-Air’s design fits more cleanly because it vents to atmosphere without modification to the pressure tube. No drilling. No creeping up in power over time.
The original Artemis (Spa / SMK) “constant pressure valve” on the M22 and PP700SA family is notoriously inconsistent — shot-to-shot velocity varies enough to make these rifles frustrating at distance. The Huma-Air replaces it with a true regulator engineered to maintain a steady output pressure, and it bridges the original valve so it can no longer affect the shooting behavior.
What sets Huma apart in the spec sheet is the quality control: every regulator is individually assembled, computer-tested, and adjusted to the customer’s requested pressure before shipping. The result is a less than 1% repeat cycle — meaning your shot-string standard deviation drops to single-digit fps territory.
What it pairs with
- Artemis M22 — the primary host rifle, regulator designed specifically for it
- Artemis PP700SA — also compatible (Huma makes a PP700SA-specific version without plenum if you prefer that fit)
- Altaros PP700SA regulator — the Altaros alternative if you want the Czech brand instead
Honest trade-offs

Two Huma options for the PP700SA. This regulator is engineered for the M22 first and fits the PP700SA second; Huma makes a separate PP700SA-only version with no plenum. For most PP700SA owners this M22 version is fine — the plenum stays out of the way. If you want the precise PP700SA-engineered fit, ask Wes to verify which one ships.
Premium pricing for premium internals. Huma sits at the same price tier as Altaros, well above the Lane budget alternative. You’re paying for the CNC aircraft aluminum, the belleville springs, the per-unit testing, and the 2-year warranty.
