Why this case earns the pick
The GB01 is the compact case in Snowpeak’s three-case lineup. At 29.5″, it’s sized for the shorter PCPs in the partner’s catalog — the Mercury (around 28″), the PR900S Gen 2, and any compact carbine-length PCP that doesn’t need the GB02’s 34.5″ length.
Buying the right-sized case matters more than buying the biggest case. A rifle that’s 4″ shorter than the case shifts around inside, the foam doesn’t grip it, and the case wastes backpack space. The GB01 fits the Mercury snugly — the foam cradles the rifle, the rifle stays put in transport, and the case footprint is small enough to fit in a tactical backpack.
Construction is identical to the GB02 and GB03 — same Polyester 900D outer, same PVC waterproof inner, same XPE foam lining. The only difference is the size.

Honest trade-offs
Too small for bottle-fed rifles. The M60B, Max 1, Lynx Gen 3, and Avenger don’t fit. Use the GB02 (34.5″) for those.
Soft case, not hard case. Same caveat as the rest of the Snowpeak line — protects against rain and scratches, not against drops or crushing.
The 2.3″ depth is tight with tall scope rings. If you’re running 30mm tube scope on high rings on a compact rifle, test fit before traveling.
