Quick take
Ballistol in the 16oz shop-size non-aerosol bottle — the bulk version for serious users. 5 orders. Same European all-purpose formula as the 4oz bottle, just four times the volume. The partner calls it "the ultimate cleaner for airgun barrels as well as full gun care" — and this size lasts a long time even with regular use. The choice for multi-rifle households, workbench use, or owners who'd rather not reorder for years.

The Hunt & Live take
Why this Ballistol earns the pick
Same Ballistol story as the 4oz bottle — European all-purpose since 1904, safe for PCPs, recommended by airgun specialists — but in the shop-size 16oz for users who go through more of it.
Who needs 16oz?
- Multi-rifle owners cleaning 3+ PCPs (and possibly a centerfire collection)
- Workbench / gunsmith setups
- Range or shop owners providing cleaning supplies to members
- Owners of a Patchworm + felt + Ballistol workflow who do regular wet-pass cleanings
- Anyone tired of reordering 4oz bottles every year
The savings per ounce are real — 16oz costs significantly less per volume than four separate 4oz bottles.
What it pairs with
- All the same pairings as the 4oz Ballistol
- Multi-rifle setups
- Wood-stocked rifle collections (Ballistol works on the stocks too)
- Patchworm Pocket Field Kit + VFG felts for high-volume cleaning workflow
Honest trade-offs
Overkill for a single-rifle casual shooter. The 4oz is the right size if you only have one PCP and clean it a few times a year.
Same caveats as the 4oz. Anise smell, slower than spray, not the strongest copper solvent on the market (but plenty for PCP work).
Bigger bottle = bigger spill if it tips over. Store upright; consider decanting into a smaller dispenser for daily use.
