The Hunt & Live take
Why this kit earns the pick
The hard case is the upgrade for field carry. The standard Patchworm Pocket Field Kit ships in a soft zip pouch — perfect for a range bag or a tool drawer. But if your kit lives in a hunting backpack alongside heavier gear (a chronograph, water bottles, ammo tins), the soft pouch gets crushed and the cleaning heads can come loose.
This version puts the same kit in a hard case that protects against crushing and keeps the cleaning heads organized. It also includes a slightly longer 36″ rifle rod — useful if you have a barrel over 26″ (the standard kit’s limit). 28″ barrel reach covers virtually every PCP in the partner’s catalog including the JTS Airacuda PRS Max chassis rifles.
For backpack-carrying PCP hunters, this is the right cleaning kit purchase.
What it pairs with
- Any PCP rifle with a barrel up to 28″
- Backpack-carry hunting setups
- Allen Timber Raider Daypack — the hard case fits inside without getting crushed by other gear
- Ballistol 4oz — pair for wet-pass cleaning
- Patchworm 7/8″ patches (500 pieces) — refill patches
Honest trade-offs
Bigger footprint than the soft-pouch version. The hard case is rigid — won’t compress into a packed bag the way the soft pouch will. For range-bag use where the soft pouch is fine, the hard case is wasted material.
Only 13 verified orders. Newer SKU, smaller sample. The kit content is the same proven design as the 190-order soft-pouch version; the case is the only difference.
Costs more than the soft-pouch version. If your kit lives in a tool drawer or a range bag, save the upgrade money. If your kit lives in a hunting backpack, the hard case pays for itself the first time it doesn’t get crushed.
