The Hunt & Live take
Why these rings earn the pick
The Westhunter Medium/Low Picatinny is the default starter ring for any modern Picatinny-railed PCP — and the right pick if you bought the Snowpeak Lynx Gen 3 from our starter kit and need rings to mount the scope. CNC machining from 6061 aircraft aluminum means the rings will outlast the scope, the low centre height (27.5mm) gives you the best possible cheek weld on the Lynx Gen 3’s straight-comb stock, and the dual-tube fit (1-inch and 30mm in one ring set) means you can swap scopes later without re-buying rings.
The 5-colour anodized finish is the small upgrade nobody talks about — if you’ve coordinated your stock and scope already, picking matching rings ties the build together for free.
What it pairs with
- Snowpeak Lynx Gen 3 Picatinny rail (the rifle from our starter kit) → Low or Medium
- Air Venturi Avenger modern Picatinny rail → Low or Medium
- JTS Airacuda / Airacuda Max modern Picatinny chassis → Low or Medium
- Beeman Raider Picatinny variant → Low or Medium
For 11mm dovetail rails (older Diana/Artemis, original Stormrider), use the Westhunter 11mm Adjustable instead.
Low or medium?
- Low — best cheek weld, requires that your scope objective clear the rifle’s barrel/shroud (works fine with 40mm-class objectives)
- Medium — extra clearance for 44mm-class objectives like the Discovery HD 3-12×44 or the LHT 3-12×42
Both heights take the same 1-inch or 30mm scope tube. Pick low if you can, medium if your scope objective forces it.
Honest trade-offs
Picatinny rail only. The product description specifies these don’t fit Weaver rails — the M5 screw spacing (15mm) is Picatinny-spec. If you have a Weaver-only rail rifle, you need different rings.
The colour anodization is mostly cosmetic — it does look sharp on a matched build, but if you scuff or scratch a coloured ring on a hard mount, the underlying aluminum shows through. For a hard-use field rifle, black is the safer pick.
Only 8 left in stock at time of writing — Westhunter restocks irregularly, so order when you see them.
