Why this rifle earns the pick
The Gen 2 1100Z is Barra’s substantial upgrade of the original 1100Z, addressing real shortcomings:
- Added internal regulator for shot-to-shot consistency (Gen 1 was unregulated)
- 22″ barrel (up from 19″) for higher velocity and improved precision
- Enlarged breech for better airflow
- Tightened side lever tolerances — less unnecessary play, smoother feel
- Lighter hammer optimized for the regulator — minimizes bounce
- Fill probe filling system with regulated pressure gauge — more convenient and informative
This is a more conventional synthetic-stock side-lever hunter than the chassis-class 250Z — simpler, lighter on the trigger-creep complaints, and built around the regulated air system that the 250Z’s lower-tier listing didn’t get.
40 FPE in .25 cal is genuinely competitive with the JTS Airacuda Max and Snowpeak M60B. At 7.5 lb it’s a normal-weight hunter (vs the 250Z’s chassis weight).

Honest trade-offs
Two 9-round mags is a small magazine — most modern PCPs in this class run 10-shot mags. Plan reloads accordingly.
Synthetic stock — not the wood-stocked aesthetic of the Airacuda Max or Snowpeak M25W. Lighter and weatherproof but visually less premium.
Fill probe (not Foster fitting). Standard for Barra but requires the included probe — don’t lose it. Buy a spare if you’re hard on small parts.
Only 10 orders so far — small validation sample. The Gen 2 is new; the Gen 1 platform has a longer track record.
