The Hunt & Live take
Why this rifle earns the pick
This is the big-bore variant of the standard Airacuda Max. Same all-metal construction, regulated air system, dual gauges, beech thumbhole stock with laser-engraved checkering — but tuned for .30 caliber pellets and slugs.
At 20 shots per fill in .30, this is a focused tool: each shot delivers serious terminal energy, but you’ll be refilling more often than the .22/.25 versions. For shooters who want JTS’s build quality in a big-bore platform without going to a Snowpeak bottle-fed rifle, this is the option.
What it pairs with
Big-bore .30 wants serious optics and refill support:
- Scope: Discovery HD 3-12×44 SFIR FFP-MIL or the Discovery ED-PRS 5-25×56 Gen 2 for longer-range slug work
- Mounts: Discovery 6061 Picatinny
- Refill: Tuxing 3L Tank + Fill Station — essential at .30 caliber consumption rates
- Ammo: Heavy .30 cal slugs and pellets — the platform earns its keep with serious projectile weights
.22/.25 vs .30 — which?
- .22/.25 (standard Airacuda Max) — most use cases. More shots per fill, cheaper ammo, more pellet selection
- .30 (this rifle) — for hunting larger pests, slug shooting, or buyers who specifically want big-bore terminal energy
For most buyers, the .22 or .25 Max is the right pick. Choose .30 only if you have a specific big-bore use case.
Honest trade-offs
20 shots per fill is much less than the 40 shots in .22. Plan ammo and refill logistics accordingly.
Big-bore .30 ammo is expensive. Per shot is meaningfully higher than .22/.25, and slug-rated .30 cal selection in Canada is limited.
No M-Lok / heavy accessory rail. Unlike the Airacuda PRS Max (the chassis variant), the standard Max has only the Picatinny optics rail. For competition or heavily accessorized builds, the PRS Max is the better pick.
