The Hunt & Live take
Why this rifle earns the pick
If the M60B is the partner’s volume hunter, the JTS Airacuda Max is the partner’s mature hunter — a more refined platform with details (dual gauges, all-metal construction, sidelever cycling) that you’d expect on a more expensive European rifle. The wood thumbhole stock with laser-engraved checkering puts it in a different aesthetic class than the Snowpeak synthetic-stock rifles.
Two verified buyer reviews tell the story:
- “I have had this rifle .25 cal airacuda max for over 2 years now and I simply cannot say enough about it… deadly accurate (same hole at 40 yards) and flawless function. It’s so good even though I was/am tempted by the Barra 250Z, I simply see no need to get one.”
- “I bought a .22 airacuda max late spring from Wes who tuned it for me at 840 fps. When I got it, it would shoot dime size groups.”
Dual gauges (reservoir + regulator) are unusual at this price point. Most rifles show only the reservoir pressure; the Airacuda Max shows you what the regulator is delivering as well, which makes diagnostics and tuning much easier.
What it pairs with
- Scope: Discovery HD 3-12×44 SFIR FFP-MIL — the durable hunting pick matches the all-metal Airacuda
- Mounts: Discovery 6061 Picatinny — for the Picatinny rail
- Refill: Tuxing 3L Tank + Fill Station — at 3200 psi a hand pump is workable but a tank is much more pleasant
- Moderator (US only): opt in at checkout; Canadian buyers add a muzzle brake
Caliber choice
- .22 — 920 fps, 40 shots per fill, the universal hunting choice
- .25 — 900 fps, 30 shots per fill, the choice for larger pests
- .30 — 850 fps, big-bore, the choice for slug shooting
The verified buyer testimonials are split between .22 (tuned at 840 fps for dime-sized groups at 40 yards) and .25 (same hole at 40 yards). Both calibers are well-validated.
Honest trade-offs
7.9 lb is on the heavier side. This is a bench/stand hunting rifle, not a backpack-carry rifle. For lighter field carry, the Lynx or Mercury is the right pick.
Air cylinder is integrated, not bottle-fed. No spare bottle swapping in the field. For that, the M60B is the right pick.
Moderator is US-only. Canadian buyers can add a muzzle brake but cannot install a moderator.
Canadian PAL required. Email PAL + a second photo ID to support@airgunarcheryfun.ca after purchase.
