Quick take
The non-regulated Airacuda — same wood stock and metal construction as the [Max version](/pcp/rifles/jts-airacuda-max/), but uses a balanced valve with three separate adjusters (hammer spring tensioner, valve spring tensioner, port adjuster) instead of a full regulator. Up to 920 fps in .22, 900 fps in .25, 40 shots per fill. 7.1 lb without scope — lighter than the Max. 100% positive on 21 orders.

The Hunt & Live take
Why this rifle earns the pick
The Airacuda Standard is the same chassis as the Airacuda Max at a lower price. The trade-off: instead of a true internal regulator, you get a balanced valve with three external/internal tuning adjusters:
- Hammer spring adjustment at the back (loosen the lock set screw, then adjust with a big flat-head screw) — for changing pellet weight or velocity
- Valve spring tensioner — requires depressurization and unscrewing the pressure tube; for serious fine-tuning
- Port adjuster on the breech — quick power changes without disassembly
The partner is clear: “for the most part you only need to adjust the hammer spring and quick power adjust port adjust on the breech.” For shooters who want adjustability without paying for a regulator, this is a clever compromise.
7.1 lb is half a pound lighter than the Max — small but noticeable for field carry.
What it pairs with
- Scope: Discovery LHT 3-12×42 SFIR FFP — matches the lighter rifle weight
- Mounts: Discovery 6061 Picatinny
- Refill: Tuxing 3L Tank + Fill Station for the 280cc cylinder
Standard vs Max — which?
- Max — for shooters who want a true regulator and dual gauges out of the box. Pay more, get more consistency without tuning
- Standard (this rifle) — for shooters who’ll spend time tuning anyway, want to save some money, and prefer the 0.8 lb lighter package
If you don’t know which you want, buy the Max — the regulator is worth the price difference for most buyers.
Honest trade-offs
Not regulated. Shot-to-shot velocity isn’t as flat as the Max. For most hunting and pest work, the difference is acceptable; for serious target work it isn’t.
Valve spring adjustment requires depressurization and stock removal. Don’t choose this rifle if you want one-handed, in-field power changes — that’s the externally adjustable M60B.
Same Canadian moderator restriction as the Max — Canadian buyers add a muzzle brake; moderators are US-only.
Canadian PAL required. Email PAL + a second photo ID to support@airgunarcheryfun.ca after purchase.
