Quick take
The only JTS .30 slug at the partner — and the heaviest .30 slug in the catalog by a wide margin (63.27gr vs. Nielsen's heaviest at 49.5gr). This is the big-bore hunting slug for serious high-power .30 PCPs — the JTS Airacuda PRS Max .30, FX Impact .30 tuned to 100+ ft-lbs, AEA platforms. At 63.27gr it requires real power to push to useful velocity, but on a rifle that can drive it, the on-target energy is comparable to a .22 LR Stinger. 100% positive buyer rating. 20 left at last fetch.

The Hunt & Live take
Why this slug earns the pick
The JTS Dead Center Precision is the heavy hunting end of the .30 slug spectrum at the partner — at 63.27 grains it’s 13 grains heavier than the heaviest Nielsen .30. That extra mass means dramatically more on-target energy at the cost of requiring a much more powerful rifle to drive.
Why include it as a top pick despite the power requirement? Two reasons:
- JTS made it specifically for their own Airacuda PRS Max .30 — the platform that’s becoming the consumer-affordable high-power .30 PCP in the Canadian market. If you buy that rifle, this is the matched ammunition the rifle was designed around.
- “Dead Center Precision” is JTS’s premium slug line — not their budget pellet line. Manufacturing tolerance is tighter than JTS’s standard offerings, dish base is consistent, and the hollowpoint cavity is uniform. It’s a real precision slug at a meaningfully lower per-slug cost than premium European competitors.
The 80 count box is small but standard for the slug-weight class — high-power .30 shooting is low-volume by nature.
What rifles it pairs with
- JTS Airacuda PRS Max .30 (slug-rated, 80+ ft-lbs) — the rifle this slug was designed for; the matched system
- FX Impact / Crown .30 (slug-rated, configurable 90+ ft-lbs) — the precision premium home; will deliver excellent groups
- AEA Challenger / Zeus .30 (high-power big-bore) — the platform-class match
- Custom high-tune .30 platforms (90+ ft-lbs, slug-rated)
Will not work with: Snowpeak Max 1 .30 at base tune (typically 60 ft-lbs — marginal for 63gr), any sub-70 ft-lb .30 (slug exits too slow), any pellet-barrel .30.
Twist rate / barrel match
1:18 twist or faster, and 80+ ft-lbs of rifle power are non-negotiable. A 63.27gr .30 slug from a 60 ft-lb rifle exits the barrel at 660fps, which is unusable for slug ballistics. At 90 ft-lbs the slug moves 850-880fps — that’s where the BC and weight start to deliver real long-range performance.
For .30 PCPs in the 55-75 ft-lb range that aren’t quite at this slug’s power class, the Nielsen 43.8gr is the right-power match.
Honest trade-offs
Only 20 left in stock. Buy now or wait for restock; JTS .30 slug supply is thin.
Heavy slug requires a serious rifle. This is not a slug for any .30 PCP under 80 ft-lbs. The lighter Nielsen .30 SKUs are the right answer for the 55-75 ft-lb tier; this slug is for the 80+ ft-lb purpose-built big-bore platforms.
Small box (80 ct). Per-shot cost is meaningfully higher than .22 or .25 slugs. Big-bore shooting is low-volume by nature — expect 80 slugs to last a season for a hunting setup.
Single weight option. JTS only stocks the 63.27gr at this caliber — no lighter or heavier alternatives in the JTS .30 line. If your rifle wants something different, Nielsen offers 43.8 / 47.2 / 49.5gr options to bracket from.
Cross-border shipping — US-routed, 6-20 business days plus customs delays. Heavy box; expect higher shipping cost.
