Tourniquets have gained recognition as a life-saving device, particularly in the context of severe trauma like gunshot wounds. When properly applied, they can significantly reduce blood loss and prevent further complications. The use of tourniquets in military medicine has been extensively documented, with studies showing a high success rate in saving limbs.

Tourniquet Application Techniques

Applying a tourniquet requires a specific technique to ensure effectiveness. The first step is to locate the femoral artery in the upper thigh or the axillary artery in the armpit, depending on the wound location.
