Tanning Techniques

For deer hides, use a commercial tanning solution specifically designed for thin skins, such as a chrome-free or vegetable tannage. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application and drying times. Elk hides, on the other hand, can be tanned using a combination of commercial solutions and natural materials like plant extracts or tree bark.
