The Paper Tuning Process

To begin paper tuning, shoot a broadhead-tipped arrow through a piece of paper or a target, checking for any deviation from a straight flight path. Record the arrow’s impact point on the paper or target. Make incremental adjustments to the cam timing by turning the cam bolts 1/4 turn at a time, and then re-check the arrow’s flight path after each adjustment. Repeat this process until the arrow impacts the target at a consistent location. Once the cam timing is adjusted, fine-tune the arrow rest to achieve a consistent arrow flight path.

Fine-Tuning the Arrow Rest

To fine-tune the arrow rest, adjust the rest’s horizontal and vertical positions to achieve a consistent arrow flight path. Make small adjustments (about 1/8 inch) to the rest’s position and re-check the arrow’s flight path after each adjustment. Use a walk-back tuning method, where you shoot the arrow from a distance of 10-15 yards and then walk back to the target to check the arrow’s impact point. Repeat this process until the arrow impacts the target at a consistent location.
