Choosing the Right Test Conditions

To accurately test your char cloth, you’ll want to create a controlled burn environment. This can be achieved by building a small fire pit using rocks or by using a metal fire ring. The ideal conditions for testing include a moderate breeze, a temperature range of 65-75°F (18-24°C), and a relative humidity of 40-50%. These conditions will help you assess the char cloth’s ability to ignite in a typical outdoor setting.

Conducting the Burn Test

To conduct the burn test, place a small piece of your char cloth on a metal skewer or a metal rod, ideally around 3-4 inches (7.6-10.2 cm) long and 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) in diameter.
