Choosing the Right Grasses

Preparing the Grasses

Cut the grasses about 18-20 inches long, as this will give you enough material to work with. Next, tie the grasses in small bunches of 5-10 stems, using a piece of cord or twine to secure them. This will make it easier to handle the grasses and prevent them from getting tangled.

Weaving the Basket

To weave the basket, start by creating a foundation of grasses. This can be a simple coil or a more complex pattern, depending on your preference. Use a few of the longest grasses to create the base of the basket, then begin weaving the rest of the grasses into a pattern.
