Is onX Maps beneficial for identifying access routes to hunting locations?

Leveraging onX Maps for E-Scouting

As a seasoned hunter, I rely heavily on onX Maps to scout and plan my hunts. This powerful tool offers multiple layers, including public land boundaries, private property lines, and topographic maps, which enable me to identify potential access routes to my target locations. By utilizing the app’s “Public Lands” layer, I can quickly identify areas where I can access public lands, such as national forests, wildlife management areas, and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands. This is particularly useful when hunting on large tracts of public land.

Creating and Managing Waypoints

onX Maps allows me to create and manage waypoints, which are critical for marking access points, trailheads, and hunting locations. I can easily create new waypoints by tapping the “Waypoints” tab and then selecting the “Add Waypoint” option. I can also assign a name, description, and category to each waypoint, which helps me quickly identify and recall important information. For example, I might create a waypoint for a trailhead and label it “Trailhead 3” or “Deer Stand 1”.
