This means the bullet will drop approximately 7.07% of the line of sight for every 100 yards. Conversely, a 45-degree downhill shot has a cosine of 0.707, but the bullet will rise approximately 7.07% of the line of sight.

To accurately calculate the bullet’s drop and trajectory, you can use ballistic software or a ballistic calculator. These tools take into account the angle of elevation, air density, and other environmental factors. By understanding the concept of angle cosine and using a ballistic calculator, you can make more accurate shots uphill and downhill. For instance, the Remington 700 with a 150-grain bullet at 2800 feet per second will drop approximately 4.4 inches at 300 yards when shot uphill at 45 degrees.
