Rapid access to medical facilities is critical in treating sucking chest wounds. The average time it takes for a person to die from a sucking chest wound is estimated to be 30 minutes to 1 hour. Medical evacuation should be initiated immediately, and priority should be given to transporting patients to a medical facility with a trauma center. The faster a patient receives medical care, the higher their chances of survival and recovery.
