What to do if you suspect a chemical attack in your area?

Recognize the Threat

If you suspect a chemical attack, do not wait for confirmation. Immediately seek shelter in a nearby building or a vehicle with closed windows and doors. If outside, move away from the area of impact, ideally upwind, and cover your face with a cloth or a mask, if available. Remove any contaminated clothing and items.

Decontamination

Decontaminate yourself and others as quickly as possible. Remove all clothing and jewelry, and wash your skin with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use a dry cloth or brush to remove any visible contamination. Decontaminate any exposed skin, paying particular attention to the face, neck, and hands. Decontamination should take no more than 2-3 minutes.

Evacuation and Medical Attention

Evacuate the area immediately, following the instructions of local authorities. If you experience symptoms of chemical exposure, such as difficulty breathing, skin irritation, or eye irritation, seek medical attention immediately. If you are unable to move, stay calm and call for help. Remember that the sooner you receive medical attention, the better the chances of recovery.
