If you’re trying to get a response from a bull elk, a bugle call that mimics the sound of a rival bull may be more effective than a cow elk call. Consider trying a spot and stalk approach, where you use binoculars to locate elk and then stalk them on foot. This can be an effective way to get close to elk, especially if you’re able to use cover and concealment to your advantage. Alternatively, you could try using a different type of call, such as a rattling antler call, or try calling at a different time of day or in a different location.
