Troubleshooting common problems with Separett toilets?

Insufficient Water Supply

If your Separett toilet is not flushing properly, it may be due to a low water level. The ideal water level should be between 1-2 cm (0.4-0.8 in) below the top of the tank. Check the water supply line for kinks or blockages, and ensure that the float valve is functioning correctly. Adjust the water level by twisting the float arm to improve the flushing action.

Composting Issues

Composting problems can arise from inadequate decomposition or excess liquid content in the composting container. If the composting process is slow, check the temperature of the composting container and ensure it’s between 55-65°C (131-149°F). This heat range promotes optimal decomposition. If the composting container is too full, it may lead to anaerobic conditions, resulting in unpleasant odors and reduced decomposition. Regularly empty the composting container and maintain a 4-6 inch (10-15 cm) layer of sawdust or other carbon-rich materials to balance the wet and dry components.

Ventilation and Odors

Poor ventilation can lead to unpleasant odors and create an unhealthy environment. Ensure that the ventilation pipe is securely attached to the composting container and extends at least 3 feet (90 cm) above the roof to allow for proper airflow. Check for any blockages in the ventilation pipe or around the composting container. Regularly inspect and clean the ventilation pipe to maintain optimal airflow and reduce odors.
