Identifying Buck Trails in California’s D Zone

When searching for buck trails in California’s D Zone, you’ll want to focus on areas with dense deer populations and suitable habitat. These areas often include water sources, south-facing slopes, and bedding areas with adequate cover. Observe your surroundings for clusters of hoof prints, often in areas with compacted soil, such as near trails or game paths. A good buck trail will have at least five to seven distinct hoof prints per cluster, with each print clearly visible.

Analyzing Sign and Scrapes
