Compare the readings to a background radiation level, which is typically around 10-20 CPM in a safe area.

Assessing Radiation Levels

Assess radiation levels by taking readings at different locations and elevations. Use a Geiger counter to take readings at ground level, 1 meter above ground, and 2 meters above ground.
