Reference shelf · The cabin
The Hunt & Live Cabin.
A 12×20 off-grid cabin, furnished top to bottom with gear we've actually tested. Every numbered item in the tour below is a real product from our review bench — placed where it would live if we built this thing tomorrow. Spin it, walk it, tap anything.
Riton 5 Primal 10x42 · move to glass · hold Q / E to roll the focus wheel
Hults Bruk Dvärdala · click to lock your AIM on the round · click again to lock the POWER
Tucktec Pro folding kayak · W paddle / S backpaddle · A D steer · round up the buoys
Watching the cut from the blind · a buck works the far crossing · click to shoulder the rifle
Ruger American .223 · wait for him to cross · aim for the vitals
Move to aim · click to shoot · ring the steel
Drag to orbit · scroll or pinch to zoom · tap any numbered marker for the review. Click the front door to step inside — or go Aerial view and zoom out over the whole property. Prefer your own two feet? Walk around with W A S D. And keep an eye on the sky — the weather turns.
Explore it · like a game
Hit Walk around and move with W A S D — the walls are solid, so click the front door to step inside. Once you're in, sit in the rocking chair and watch the fire, lie on the bunk and stare at the rafters, or pick up the Riton on the windowsill and glass the tree line. There's a porch chair for sitting out a rain shower too — the weather rolls through every few minutes. And deep in the forest out back, a camo blind overlooks a cut in the timber — click it to get behind the .223 on the tripod. A buck works the far crossing. Wait for your moment.
Bonus · The 25-yard PCP range
An airgun lane east of the porch — bench, sandbag, paper target, and three steel spinners hanging to the right. Click the air rifle on the bench to shoulder it, move to aim, click to shoot, and swing right to ring the steel. Only the marked vital zones count as a hit, and rain wind pushes your hold. Use the arrows behind the glass to swap between all six of our free printable target designs, hang a fresh sheet any time — then print the real PDFs and shoot them for real.
What's in the cabin
Every item is a review. Every review was earned.
Tap "view in cabin" to fly the camera to any product, or go straight to the full hands-on review.
Gear wall
The cabin is furnished with our featured reviews only. Also tested and reviewed, but waiting on the bench for a future spot: Jackery Explorer 1000, Renogy 200W panel (that's still it leaning in the south yard — it charges the BLUETTI in our featured review), LifeStraw Personal, Morakniv Garberg, Vortex Diamondback HD, and the Leupold BX-4 Pro Guide HD.
The build sheet
Could you actually build this? Yes. That's the point.
The shell
A 12×20 single-room cabin on skids or piers — the largest footprint most jurisdictions allow without a full permit, and a weekend-warrior build with a helper and a nail gun. Eight-foot walls, gable roof, covered porch on the south end for the morning coffee that tastes better outside.
The systems
No grid tie, no plumbing. Power is the two-station setup — BLUETTI for daily loads, Jackery for reserve — fed by the Renogy 200W panel. Water is hauled and filtered; sanitation is the Separett in the privy. Heat is the wood stove, and the kettle never leaves it.
The rule
Nothing gets a spot in the cabin that didn't first earn a spot in a review. If we build this for real — and we're thinking about it — the gear list is already done, tested, and linked above.
