Prepper Assessment

Living in this area offers a mix of urban and suburban environments, with a high population density of 1,977.2 people per square mile and only 4% of the land designated as rural. The climate is characterized by a humid environment with an annual mean temperature of 49.4°F and approximately 47.4 inches of rainfall per year. The growing season is moderate, suitable for a variety of crops typical of USDA zone 7b, though the limited rural space may restrict extensive self-sufficient living.

The county faces several natural hazards, with the highest risks associated with ice storms (100), riverine flooding (98), and lightning (96). While the violence percentile is low at 0, indicating a safer environment, the high population density could lead to challenges in terms of community resources and competition for land. The median home price is notably high at $654,300, which may limit affordability for potential homesteaders and complicate long-term sustainability.

This area may suit individuals or families who value access to urban amenities and can afford the higher cost of living. Those who thrive here are likely to be tech-savvy, given the 85% broadband subscription rate, and may prioritize convenience over extensive land for farming. However, for traditional homesteaders seeking large plots of land and a more rural lifestyle, the high density and limited rural space could be significant drawbacks.
