The growing season is relatively long, suitable for various crops, particularly in USDA zone 9b. The terrain is mostly rural, which can provide ample space for self-sufficient living, though the population density of 132.5 people per square mile may limit some aspects of privacy or solitude.

Lamar County could be a good fit for individuals or families seeking a rural lifestyle with a warm climate and the potential for farming. Those who thrive here are likely to be self-sufficient and prepared for natural hazards.
